According to the latest Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey, mortgage rates have remained relatively stable. The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage saw a slight increase from 6.47% to 6.49%, while the 15-year fixed-rate mortgage edged up from 5.63% to 5.66%. Despite these minor fluctuations, rates are still at their lowest point in over a year, leading to a notable rise in mortgage applications.
WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 14, 2024) — Mortgage applications increased 16.8 percent from one week earlier, according to data from the Mortgage Bankers Association’s (MBA) Weekly Applications Survey for the week ending August 9, 2024.
