DPA programs across the country continue to make homeownership possible for many. Below is a list of programs available in the state of New Mexico. Also, combining programs may be possible, so be sure to inquire.
FirstHome and FirstDown
“A mortgage loan for individuals or families who have not owned a home in the past three years. It may be used with MFA’s down payment assistance program, FirstDown or as a stand-alone first mortgage.”

“A down payment and closing cost second mortgage loan that is available to available to first-time homebuyers who have lower household incomes. The loan has a 0 percent interest rate and may be forgiven after 10 years if certain conditions are met.”
HomeForward
“A mortgage loan for individuals or families who have owned a home in the past three years or who do not qualify for MFA’s FirstHome loan program. It may be used with MFA’s down payment assistance program, (DPA name) or as a stand-alone first mortgage.”

Homebuyer Equity Leverage Partnership (HELP) Program
“Through member institutions, HELP assists low-income-qualified, first-time homebuyers with down payment assistance and closing costs.”
Single Family Housing Direct Home Loans
“Also known as the Section 502 Direct Loan Program, this program assists low- and very-low-income applicants obtain decent, safe and sanitary housing in eligible rural areas by providing payment assistance to increase an applicant’s repayment ability. Payment assistance is a type of subsidy that reduces the mortgage payment for a short time.”
